The Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) allow to control all building’s facilities (thermal plant system, lighting system, HVAC, security, ecc.) in order to maintain both high levels of Indoor Environmental Comfort (IEQ) and high levels of energy efficiency. Acronyms such as BMS (Building Management System), BCS (Building Control system) BOCS (Building Optimization and Control System), BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) refer to the same concept of computer-based systems used to monitor and control building services. The structure of BACS consists of different components that interact each-others by using a specific communications protocol. In a generic BACS we can find sensors, able to measure environmental and operational parameters, a controllers, responsible for the data collection and the management of logic control through some output devices.
